Tom Dorsey has been a legal assistant for the Firm specializing in
litigation and assisting in real estate tax appeals.
EDUCATION
- 1991, Robert Morris College, Chicago, Illinois. Certificate: Lawyer's Assistant Program. Courses Included: Civil Litigation, Legal Research, Criminal Law, Real Estate Law, Estate Planning and Corporate Law.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Tom's experience features the preparation of domestic and foreign corporate filings, including Articles of Incorporation, Articles of Amendment, Corporate Bylaws and Minutes and Annual Reports. Tom also prepares real estate closing documents.
AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Legal Research on Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw and Dun & Bradstreet as well as Internet Legal Research. Assist attorneys in drafting of motions and pleadings. Assist with and maintain discovery documents. Prepare medical specials and lost wages in civil litigation. Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including assistance at jury trials.
Assistance and preparation of Real Estate Tax petitions for residential, commercial and industrial matters at the Assessor of Cook County, the Cook County Board of Review, and the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board Attendance at Board hearings and Property Tax Appeal Board settlement conferences.
