Matthew P. Tyrrell
Matt Tyrrell concentrates his practice in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters. He has years of experience handling all aspects of the litigation process in both state and federal courts, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, injunctive relief, written discovery, depositions and settlement negotiations. In 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, Matt was recognized as an Emerging Lawyer in the area of employment law by the Leading Lawyers Network in the state of Illinois. He has been selected to the Rising Stars list by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Matt received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law where he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable James F. Henry (ret.) in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County and was awarded the CALI award for academic excellence in legal writing and employment discrimination.
AREAS OF LEGAL CONCENTRATION
The primary focus of his litigation practice involves employment disputes, including wrongful termination, restrictive covenants, retaliatory discharge, employment discrimination, and whistleblower claims in federal and state courts and administrative agencies. In addition to his litigation practice, Matt counsels and represents clients in connection with all aspects of the employment relationship, including employment agreements, severance agreements and non-compete agreements, reductions in force, EEO laws, and human resources practices.
